Honest first look: 99 of every 100 home libraries aren't worth driving out for. I buy rarely — specific rare titles, or whole-collection cleanouts where the price works for both sides. Default for everything else: free NMLP pickup, any condition, statewide. Same number, same person. Start with a text of a few photos — honest yes or no in minutes.
The process

Here's exactly what happens when you call.

Five simple steps from phone call to cash in hand. No hidden process, no pressure. Just honest evaluation and fair payment for books that have resale value — and zero-waste handling for the rest.

The steps

One call. Everything handled.

01

You call, text, or submit photos

Text or call 702-496-4214 with a rough count and a photo or two. No need to sort, clean, or organize anything first — we'll handle the entire collection. If it's late, email us at [email protected] and Josh will get back to you within hours.

02

We confirm a pickup time (usually same day)

Josh will text or call back within an hour during business hours with a time that works. For estates or large collections, he'll often come out the same day or next morning. We're flexible — if you have a deadline, mention it and we'll work to meet it.

03

We arrive and sort on site

Josh arrives with a truck and sorts through everything right there in your home or office. He uses real-time market data to identify first editions, signed copies, rare material, regional New Mexico authors, and anything else with resale value. You see the process — no black box.

04

Cash on the spot for what we buy

Josh makes a fair offer for the books with resale value. You approve it or walk away — zero pressure. If you approve, he pays you cash on the spot, usually within 15 minutes. No waiting, no checks, no processing delays.

05

Every leftover book handled personally

Children's books go to the New Mexico Literacy Project — a literacy project Josh runs out of the same shop — and out to kids across New Mexico. Everything else that won't sell (overprinted adult fiction, duplicates, damaged material) Josh loads into a gaylord and drives to the paper recycler himself. Several times a week. Not a dumpster in sight.

I buy the books from these thrift stores every week. Might as well pay the customer instead.

Your questions

The things people worry about.

Will I feel pressured to sell?

No. Josh makes an offer, shows you the math, and you decide. If it doesn't feel right, you can walk away. He'd rather not do a deal than do a bad one. You're in control the entire time.

What if I change my mind after he arrives?

You can absolutely change your mind. He'll have sorted through the books by then, so you'll see exactly what he found to be valuable. If you decide not to sell, he'll help put things back and leave. No obligation whatsoever.

Do I have to pre-sort the books myself?

Not at all. Leave them exactly as they are — stacked on shelves, in boxes, in piles. Josh sorts on site. He's looking at condition, edition, provenance, and market demand. Your job is to say "come get them."

What if my books are in bad condition?

Condition matters for resale, but doesn't change whether we come out. Josh is honest about what has value and what doesn't. Readable books without resale value go to NMLP and out to readers. Books too damaged to read — moldy, water-stained, bindings shot — get properly recycled as paper. Either way, nothing goes to a landfill.

How long does the whole thing take?

Phone call to cash usually takes 24–48 hours. The actual pickup and evaluation depends on collection size — a few hundred books might take 45 minutes to an hour. Large estates can take 2–3 hours. Josh is thorough but efficient.

Do you really come to my house?

Yes. Free pickup across the Albuquerque metro, Rio Rancho, Corrales, Placitas, East Mountains, and surrounding areas. We can work with smaller collections too — call to discuss if you have 50–100 books and want pickup.

Why it matters

Nobody's giving books to the landfill if I can help it.

Thrift stores are drowning. Goodwill and Savers get hundreds of book donations every week, and most of them get trashed within days because there's no shelf space and no staff to process them. They're overwhelmed.

Josh buys books from those thrift stores every single week. So when you call instead of donating, you're getting paid for material that was headed for the dumpster anyway. It's the same books. Same warehouse. Same outcome for what doesn't sell — kids' books go to NMLP and out to readers; the overprinted adult stuff I recycle myself.

You keep money in your pocket. Your books reach readers who actually want them. And Josh doesn't have to dig through dumpsters to find valuable material.
